Montroc to Lac Blanc – tenth day of the TMB

It was an awesome day!!

We went together from our refuge with two British people we had met on the route a few days before – Matthew, 21 years old, and his dad. We had interesting talks along the way regarding the different way of life people our age have in Israel and England. Then we met Yael and Yoram on the way and performed an impressive 8 people group, walking surrounded by clouds.

We went up and reached ladders. I had to put my alpines in the bag in order to free my hands, and together with my scarf I got a ninja-like look.

Then we climbed the ladders. It was awesome, fun and at times also scary. Along the way we were surrounded by clouds the whole time.

When we finished climbing the ladders, the sun came out and sent a few rays that made us sing “Stairway to heaven”. It was fabulous.

Then we started heading for our refuge, yet the weather changed fast. Crazy snow came down and struck us hard in the faces. It was really tough to walk like that, and the refuge was an hour away.

When we finally arrived at the refuge in Lac Blanc, we were completely wet. The kind of wet that gets through the shoes and socks, as well as through all layers of clothing. We were cold. And when we got to the refuge we realized it had no heat or electricity at all until the evening. Ahhhhhhhh!

We went up and got some soup and coffee. Like Keith, our British companion said when I asked what kind of soup they had – “hot soup”. It was the only thing that mattered. We even skipped taking a shower for the first time in the whole trip as the water was too cold. We then had a long card game of “Yaniv” and an interesting conversation during dinner before attempting to get some sleep.

It was a hard yet really cool day, heading for our last one of the TMB…
