Cycling the Danube – Day 2 – Donauschlingen to Linz

After sleeping in this great hotel, we had fine breakfast and headed for a great view of the Schlogen. The way included a quite steep ascent that we climbed by foot for 40~ minutes, but the view was worth it!

We then returned to our hotel to get ready for the way, and started cycling. The path was completely paved and flat. The sky was clear and the weather better than yesterday. It was superb.

At some point we arrived at Aschach. It’s a nice city on the Danube, with pretty houses and… Food 🙂

From there we kept going with the pretty Danube on our side. The path was wide enough for us to ride side by side. We cycled till we reached the ferry to Ottensheim. Unfortunately we arrived late so we had to take the last ferry, and thus couldn’t see the Wilhering church. Well, that’s one thing to do next time.

After looking at the market platz in Ottensheim, we cycled to Linz. It was getting late and the sun had set so it got dark very shortly. For some unknown reason our bikes lights didn’t work. It was getting too dark so we parked the bikes at some place and called our amazing Couch Surfing hosts who came to pick us up by car.

Alicja and Simon are hosts from heaven. They made us feel at home and made us traditional Austrian dinner. We had great time with them as they speak English extremely well. We finally went to sleep after a long, quite adventurous day.
